The most affordable areas for single home buyers to buy a one-bed flat in England and Wales outside London are revealed in a new Zoopla survey. Newcastle-under-Lyme topped the list, with buyers typically needing to sacrifice 10.84% of their monthly wage in mortgage payments there. The entire top five is comprised of northern locations, with Newcastle followed by North Tyneside, Bradford, Kirklees and Blackpool. Cambridge is the least affordable, with mortgage payments taking up 36.14% of monthly wages. Southern areas including Brighton, Bath and Windsor appeared on the least affordable top 10 rundown.
