One of the reasons I love being an estate agent in East London is that I get to look round so many properties with incredible views. I shot a video of Docklands at sunset which you can watch at the end of this blog – it’s such a privilege to visit developments like the one I filmed from.  Much of the new build property in East London is in high quality tall buildings, meaning that many of the flats and apartments benefit from stunning vistas across the Thames and Docklands.

How views affect London house prices

As a general rule, in new build properties the higher the floor number, the higher the price of the apartment. Many buyers feel this is excellent value for money and are happy to invest more in a property that looks out over the River Thames, or one of London’s landmarks. Better yet, these views change with the seasons and the weather, allowing residents to enjoy London’s incredible sunsets, skyscrapers against pure blue sky, and the best of the capital’s thunderstorms! No wonder we never get tired of looking out across London.

Make the most of your view when you’re selling a property in East London

When you’re preparing to sell an apartment on the forty-something-th floor, it’s important to make the most of view – it will probably be one of the property’s key selling points. Position the furniture away from the windows to maximise the impact of the panorama, and make sure your floor-to-ceiling windows are perfectly clean, inside and out.

A stunning view through a large window definitely provides the “wow” factor, so make sure you make the most of it!

Buying London property off-plan

At risk of stating the obvious, if you’re hoping to buy a property off-plan, you won’t be able to visit it until you move in. It’s important to remember that the view from the show apartment is unlikely to be the same as the view your own apartment will have, so check which way your property will face and how your view will be affected by the floor number.
