The Sixty Second Sale – are you working with the right East London estate agent?

Putting together a bio for another site recently made me look back over some of my achievements of the last twenty years. Of course, some of them were sheer good luck, but others were due to genuinely caring about my clients and listening to their needs.
Choose the right East London estate agent
When you’re choosing an estate agent to buy or sell property with, it’s important you choose one whom you relate to and who’ll really make the effort to understand where you’re coming from. Choosing the right agent can save you a lot of time and help you make the most of your money too. Offering the best possible service is really important to me as an estate agent, just as it is to you as a buyer or seller.
The 60-second sale
Here’s a real case of a (staggeringly!) quick sale that came about because I had the needs of both buyer and seller at heart. It also happened because I didn’t forget about a client, even when the original sale fell through.
I was working with a couple who were hoping to buy a river-facing apartment in East London. They’d been to several viewings of a one-bed apartment that suited their needs perfectly, but had unfortunately been pipped at the post by another buyer. They’d gone away disappointed, hoping for better luck with another property.
About a week later, I was contacted by an experienced vendor and long-standing connection hoping to sell a one-bedroom, river-facing property two floors above the one my aforementioned clients had missed out on. While I was taking the details and confirming the instruction, I remembered these buyers and decided to call them as soon as I could. Whether it’s because I’m slow to delete contacts from my address book (!), or just had a hunch I should hang on to this couple, we’ll never know, but the next call I made was to them. They immediately offered the full asking price and I was able to go back to the vendor with the good news…less than a minute after the first call.
A good relationship between client and estate agent
This story isn’t just about selling a property in the space of sixty seconds. It’s also about the importance of good working relationships. The vendor and I had built up a good relationship over the years and he came straight to me because he knew I could sell the type of property he was offering, and for the right price. He also knew that I wouldn’t necessarily stick to the traditional marketing approaches if I thought I could sell his property more quickly my own way.
I’d also got to know and like the buyers and sincerely wanted them to find a home they’d love and be able to settle down in. That’s why I had no hesitation in going to them as soon the first call was over.
It’s really important to choose an estate agent you get on with and who has your best interests at heart. You deserve an estate agent who actually gives a monkey’s, and I hope you’ll choose to work with me when you’re buying, selling or letting property in East London.
