Marketing property in East London? Here’s why social media is an important part of the plan…

When I was first selling property a decade or so ago, internet property searches were in their infancy and social media hadn’t even been invented. But times have changed, and like many East London estate agents, I’m finding that social media is a great tool for selling property. Here’s why….
Social media is a cost-effective solution for marketing your East End property
An important appeal that social media carries is that most of it is still free for users. Nearly 62% of us have a presence on a least one platform or another (Instagram’s my favourite), helped by the fact that we don’t have to pay to set up and use an account.
The low cost factor is great for estate agents too – we can advertise properties across social media without having to pay for the privilege. Crucially, this keeps costs down for sellers as we can market their property on Instagram or Twitter (in addition to property portals like On the Market) for free. Unlike some marketing tools, letting us market your property on social media need never incur you any additional costs.
Social media is a quick and easy way of sharing real estate information
I am also a big fan of the slick nature of social media. I can easily use Instagram to share a picture of a property we’re selling – it’s a great use of five spare minutes before a viewing, reaching potential buyers and helping sellers at the same time.
Of course, all our properties are showcased through the website, accompanied by floor plans, maps and full details. Once uploaded, social media makes sharing links to these properties quick and easy, ensuring that properties for sale are seen by the widest possible audience.
Social media helps estate agents to build a community of buyers, sellers and developers
A great thing about social media, and a way it really differs from conventional property portals, is that it’s interactive. If we share a property on Instagram, it’s the easiest thing in the world for someone to leave a comment and ask for a viewing then and there. They can also tag friends who might be interested.
Social media posts are also really easy for people to share. This means that sellers can share the posts about their own properties on their own Instagram accounts, on other platforms or by email, encouraging friends and family to help in the search for buyers. It’s also easy for people to respond to house-hunting posts with links to likely properties on our website or social media channels.
Follow Dockleys on social media
Many of you will know how much I love Instagram, sharing posts about our properties and a few videos too. We are also active on Twitter. Please follow the links to the Dockleys accounts – we’d love you to join in, share our content and help yourselves and others to buy and sell some of the best properties in East London.
